Hindu woman Itisha Mondal and her family fell victim to a brutal medieval-style attack. On October 29, 2024, her family’s home in Chaigharia Tikarabad village under Batiaghata Police Station, Khulna District, was attacked. Around 70-80 thousand takas’ worth of trees and 35 thousand bricks purchased for house construction were looted. When family members tried to intervene, they were subjected to a medieval-style assault and torture. When they went to Batiaghata Police Station to file a complaint, the police initially hesitated to accept it. However, military intervention forced the police to begin an investigation, and they eventually accepted the complaint.
The attackers included Md. Rasool, Md. Babu, Fatema, Md. Mannan, Md. Raihan, Md. Kamal, Jasmine, and 10-15 other unidentified individuals. On November 2, 2024, during the police investigation, Itisha Mondal was attacked, sustaining bite wounds on her hand and other sensitive areas of her body.
