How safe were Hindus during the rule of Awami League?

Hindus consider the Awami League to be more secular than the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. However, during the Awami League's tenure, very few Hindus have held significant positions in the country. Even so, Hindus generally continue to support the Awami League. Analyzing data and reports reveals that since the Awami League came to power in 2009, there have been several incidents of violence against Hindus. According to data from the Law and Arbitration, more than 3,710 attacks on Hindus were reported between January 2013 and September 2021, with many incidents involving Awami League leaders. Rana Dasgupta, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, told The Daily Star (Bangladesh),

Unfortunately, many grassroots leaders of the Awami League have been found involved in these attacks.
In 2016, activists and leaders of the Hindu community confirmed that "many, including Awami League members, were involved in the illegal occupation of land belonging to the Hindu community."
